The stabilising mechanism is intended for a floating crane. At least one displacement body (7) is movable relative to the water (8) on which the crane floats in response to forces and/or moments acting on the vessel such that its total immersed volume is varied. The body is pref. movable by an actuator driven from a force accumulator, e.g. a weight (9) acting on the piston (14a) in a hydraulic cylinder (14) connected to hydraulic cylinders (11a,b) coupled to the body. The accumulator may be a flywheel with drive motor and couplable to a hydraulic pump.
