PURPOSE:To prevent a roller from reversing due to a pressure differential and as well to prevent a return lock device from serving as a suction resistance upon operation of a rotary compressor, by forming a notch formed on the low pressure chamber side of a vane so that a communication may be established between the high pressure chamber side and the low pressure chamber side upon reversing of a roller. CONSTITUTION:A vane 40 is formed on the low pressure chamber 38 side thereof with a notch 52 through which the high pressure chamber 39 side and the low pressure chamber side 38 are communicated with each other. With this arrangement, upon reversing of a roller 37 coolant flows from the high pressure chamber 39 to the low pressure chamber 38 through the notch 52 so that the pressures in the high and low pressure chambers 39, 38 are made equal together, thereby the reverse rotation of the roller 37 may be prevented. Further, upon starting the vane 40 is returned by the contracting force of a coil spring 53 to a position where the vane 40 slides on a first clamping wall surface 50 to carry out the normal operation. Further, upon normal operation, since there is no suction resistance in a suction passage, it is possible to prevent the lowering of refrigerating power.
