PURPOSE:A homopolymer which, when mixed with another polymer, can impart flexibility, hydrophilicity and dyeability to the polymer or enhance such properties of the polymer, prepared by polymerizing 2-methylene-1,3-dioxocane. CONSTITUTION:A 2-methylene-1,3-dioxocane homopolymer of the formula (wherein n is 55-195). This polymer can be obtained by polymerizing 2-methylene-1,3- dioxocane in the presence of a catalyst such as di-tert-butyl peroxide. This polymer is one having a relatively low MW and, when mixed with another polymer, for example, a polyamide, vinyl polymer or inorganic polymer, it can impart flexibility, hydrophilicity and dyeability to the polymer, or enhance such properties of the polymer.
