PURPOSE:To obtain a cassette having a novel appearance with colored patterns, by printing the colored patterns on the surface of the case when or after the case is molded. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, cassette halves 14 provided with lattice-like linear grooves 13 at their flat section 11 and stepped section 12 are prepared by, for example, injection molding of a black-colored plastic. Then the cassette halves 14 are put in a metallic lower die 40 from the top after a crimp treatment is performed on the surface of the flat section 11 and stepped section 12 to improve the adhering property of colored patterns, and a colored pattern A is thermally transferred onto the flat section 11 with a up-down type thermal transfer device. Then another colored pattern B is thermally transferred onto the stepped section 12 with a roll type thermal transfer device and a united pattern is constituted with the colored patterns A and B. Thereafter, a tape driving mechanism is mounted between the two cassette halves thus formed and fixed with a screw 63.
