PURPOSE:To improve precision of processing by preventing a processing tool from generating unexpected vibration even under an influence of external force, in the captioned tool stand moving device which is fitted with a processing tool dressing a grindstone and uses layer-built piezoelectric elements. CONSTITUTION:A moving device for a tool stand 3 is configured such that a projection part 23 is provided on lower part of the tool stand 3 and two layer- built piezoelectric elements 5, 6, interposing the projection part 23 between them, are longitudinally arranged in series, while the front end of the front side element 5 and the rear end of the rear side element 6 are respectively in contact with the front end part and the rear end part of the basal stand 2, and longitudinal preloads are applied to both elements 5, 6 to be assembled. Further, a control device, which applies increasing voltage to one of said elements 5, 6 and decreasing voltage offsetting the increasing voltage to the other respectively, is provided. The tool stand 3 is set slightly movable longitudinally while maintaining the preloads due to application of voltages offsetting each other. Accordingly, the tool stand 3 can be moved smoothly without vibration even in case a processing tool 4 is influenced by external force from a work 1. |
