<p>PURPOSE:To enable direct observation of slopping condition in a converter during the blow smelting operation by providing near a converter a photoconductive detector in which a detection light receiving section is put into a through hole on the side wall of the converter to detect light in the converter. CONSTITUTION:Oxygen is blown into molten iron 17 and slag 16 in the converter 1 from a lance 19 to extract phosphor and sulfer with agitation. A photoconductive detector 6 is provided near the converter 1, a tip light receiving section 7 mounted free to load and unload and then, put into a through hole 4 on the side wall of the converter 1 to detect light in the converter. A detector section 6 is provided with a photoelectric element 10 to convert light into electrical signal, which is displayed 13 by image processing 11. The proceding of the blow smelting is visually observed by a TV image 12 while changes in the waveform and intensity of light are checked. Thus, the photoconductive detector is provided in the converter to detect the condition of the converter momentarily thereby enabling a stable operation.</p> |
