PREPARATION OF TRIMETHYLOLPROPANE ALLYL ETHER

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance in a simple process for reacting trimethylolpropane with allyl chloride in presence of an alkali metal hydroxide and water, using a quarternary ammonium salt as a catalyst in a reaction mixture, by dropping the allyl chloride into the reaction mixture. CONSTITUTION:A reaction mixture prepared by adding trimethylolpropane as a raw material to an alkali metal hydroxide and water and further a quaternary ammonium salt used as a catalyst is reacted with allyl chloride which is dropped thereinto, preferably for 0.5-5hr at 60-120 deg.C, preferably 70-110 deg.C to obtain the titled ompound. Tetrabutyl ammonium bromide is used as the quaternary ammonium salt in an amount of 0.1-20mol% based on the trimethylolpropane. The amount of the allyl chloride to be used is preferably 1.8-2.5mol per 1mol trimethylolpropane. The titled compoudn is useful as a modifying agent for polyesters and a raw material for synthetic resins.
