PURPOSE:To improve the reproducibility while making the density of consecutive line images constant by detecting a time until the print data printed on the next line is obtained at each line, setting the print time of print data in response to the length of the detecting time and energizing and driving a heater. CONSTITUTION:When picture information is incoming, a main control section 7 outputs a recording strobe signal to a CPU11. Then the CPU11 stores a count time set by the initializing processing to an accumulator and then the count value of the timer as the count means is cleared to start the count operation. Then a main control section 7 generates a power application drive signal being an ''H'' level for a print time only during the ''L'' level period of a recording period designating signal incoming at the same time as a recording strobe signal, applies it to a heat-sensitive recording head 14 and energizes and drives the heater of the head 14 during only the ''H'' level period of the power application drive signal.
