PURPOSE:To enable stable operation without producing alkali hypochlorite when electrolysis is restarted, by enclosing each anode or cathode in a bag-shaped ion exchange membrane and dividing both the electrodes with a separating plate. CONSTITUTION:Each anode 4 or cathode 5 in an electrolytic cell is enclosed in the bag-shaped ion exchange membrane 1 having one open end. The anode and cathode sides are divided with a separating plate 6, and a cover 7 is put on the electrolytic cell so that a common header 9 at the upper side can be placed in the cover 7. A slender pipe 10 is extended from the header 9 to the bottom of each anode chamber. |
