PURPOSE:To treat a liquid material such as crude petroleum oil contg. solid foreign matters such as ice sludge without taking out the solid foreign matters out of the system by providing a vertical cylindrical filter chamber and a heating chamber below the filter chamber and melting the solid foreign matters to pass through a strainer. CONSTITUTION:When crude petroleum oil contg. sludge enters a filter chamber 1 from an inlet 11 for the liquid in the direction of an arrow mark and passes through a filter element 3, the sludge sticks together with other solid matters, if any, to the inside of the filter element 3, scraped off continuously by a scraping means 4, and falls in a heating chamber 2, where it is heated together with accompanying petroleum oil by a heating means 5 and melted to be transformed to the liquid state. The crude petroleum oil contg. the melted sludge rises up in the heating chamber 2 as the temp. rises, returns then to the filter chamber 1, passes through the filter element 3, and is discharged together with the crude petroleum oil supplied from a liquid inlet 11 through a liquid outlet 12. Unmelted solid matters settle to the bottom of the heating chamber, and are discharged from a drain port 21 when it is accumulated.
