PURPOSE:To enhance the fatigue strength of a flange coupling, by making the cross-sectional form of the coupling angular, providing notches on the shearing load reception surfaces of the coupling, and orienting the notches in such directions as to minimize the cross-sectional area of the shearing stress reception part of the coupling. CONSTITUTION:The cross section of a shear pin has a quadrangular form such as that of a square, a trapezoid or the like. As a result, the distribution of load on the shearing load reception part of the shear pin is made uniform to eliminate local excessive stress to enhance the fatigue strength of the shear pin. It is preferable to provide the shear pin with a trapezoidal cross section, in which the length of each of shearing load reception surfaces B, D is larger than that of each of shearing load non-reception surfaces A, C, in order to disperse the load well. Notches 4 are provided on the shearing load reception surfaces B, D so as to serve as safety means against overload. |
