PURPOSE:To realize a retrieving method close to a random access by recording contents information and address information of a program recorded to a magnetic tape to a starting end part of the magnetic tape and knowing an address of a prescribed program form the contents information. CONSTITUTION:Contents information and address information of a program are recorded to a starting end part of a magnetic tape 1 recording the program by means of controlling a system controller 36 with rotation heads 29 and 30. When a prescribed program is searched, data are reproduced from the magnetic tape 1 by the heads 29 and 30 and supplied from an output terminal 40 to a monitor. Consequently, since an address of the prescribed program can be obtained, address designation operation is performed and the magnetic tape 1 is quickly traversed. At this time, a cue signal recorded at the magnetic tape 1 is simultaneously reproduced, is counted by a cue signal counting device 39 and the counted value and the designated address are coincident. Then, the controller 36 stops the magnetic tape 1 and the prescribed program is headed. |
