Epoxy-coating column e.g. of drilling platform to repair damaged area - of original coat possibly submerged by sealing with clearance in split shuttering with connections for compressed air, steam and epoxy paint

The method is intended for coating a column, which may be at least partly below (sea) water, level using an epoxy paint. The prtio- to be treated, e.g. 5.5 m lonq and partly submerged, is surrounded with clearance by two-part steel sealingly interconnected shuttering units with rubber seals around the column at the upper and lower end. The lowermost and uppermost units are provided with connections for e.g. 0.5 inch tubes (not shown) which are used in succession to expel water by compressed air, remove remaining salt residue by injecting steam, drying the column surface by passing through dry air, and injecting epoxy paint, the shuttering being left in position, e.g. for four days, until the paint has set.
