摘要 PURPOSE:To limit use of destructible, insulator quarts glass to the irreducible minimum of a demand as well as to secure such a large engine, bearing the above caption, as being well resistible to breakdown, by constituting a discharge vessel with a metallic vessel provided with a cutting part and an insulating material interposingly installed in this cutting part. CONSTITUTION:A discharge vessel consists of a metallic vessel 9 provided with a cutting part 11 and an insulating material 10 of quarts glass or the like interposingly installed in the cutting part 11. With this constitution, magnetic flux density out of an induction coil to be set up at the outside of the discharge vessel cannot enter the metallic vessel 9 but enterable through the cutting part 11. At this time, the insulating material 10 of the cutting part 10 may not prevent the magnetic flux density from penetrating into the discharge vessel. For this reason, it is unnecessary to use destructible insulator quarts glass for the discharge vessel so extensively so that such a large RF ion engine as being well resistible to breakdown is offerable.
