PURPOSE:To provide a metal ammonium complex salt compd. which has a negative charge and excellent compatibility with developer resins and is suitable for use as a charge controlling agent to be incorporated in toner. CONSTITUTION:A metal complex salt compd. of formula I, wherein X1, X2 are each H, alkyl, halogen, etc.; R1, R3 are H, alkyl, benzoylamino, halogen, etc.; R2, R4 are each H, nitro; m, m', n, n' are each 1-3; M is Cr, Co, Fe; A(+) is an aliph., alicyclic or heterocyclic ammonium ion. Said compd. (in which M is e.g., Cr) can be prepd. by reacting sodium hydroxide and sodium chromium salicylate with a monoazo compd. of formula II to form a chromium complex and converting the resulting chromium complex compd. (where counter ion is Na(+)) into a salt by using an amine in a conventional manner. |
