PURPOSE:To enhance filtering efficiency by shortening the time required for filtering a residual liquid, by performing the filtering of the liquid remaining in the main body of a filtering machine so as to take an almost equal time to the last. CONSTITUTION:In a filtering stage, the valve 4 of the filter cylinder 2 of a lower stage unused in a final stage, which discharges the liquid to be filtered remaining in the main body 1 of a filter machine while filtering the same under the pressure of gas, is opened to perform filtering by the filter cylinder 2. That is, filtering is performed at first in such a state that the valve 4 of the No.11 filter cylinder 2 is closed. In the treatment of the liquid to be filtered remaining in the main body 1 of the filter machine, pressurized gas is supplied into the main body 1 of the filtering machine through a gas supply pipe 8 to perform the filtering of the residual liquid under pressure and, when the filter cylinder (No.1) of the uppermost stage is contacted with gas, the value 4 of the filter cylinder 2 of said stage is closed to prevent the outflow of gas. By this method, the valves 4 are successively closed from the upper stage and, when the closing of the valve 4 reached the final stage, the valve 4 of the unused filter cylinder 11 is opened and filtering is performed until the gas is contacted with the filter cylinder 2 of the final stage.
