PURPOSE:To take precise measurement of wave height by calculating the amount of water in a water tank from the amount of water injection and discharge metered by the 1st and the 2nd flow meters respectively and further finding the reference height of the water surface from the calculated amount of water and the shape of the water tank. CONSTITUTION:The wave height measuring instrument for an experimental water tank is provided with a water injecting device 6 which supplies water into the water tank 1, a water discharging device 7 which discharges the water from the water tank 1, and a wave producing device 2 which waves the surface of the water introduced into the water tank 1. Further, the instrument is provided with a water level gauge 18 which is set on the basis of the specific level surface of the water tank 1 so as to measure the height of waves produced by the wave producing device 2, the 1st integrating flow meter 11 which meters the amount of water supplied to the water tank 1 by an injecting device 6, and the 2nd integrating flow meter 12 which meters the amount of water discharged from the water tank 1 by a discharging device 7. Then, outputs of the 1st and the 2nd flow meters 11 and 12 and the output of the level gauge 8 are inputted to a wave height calculating circuit 101, which calculates the wave height HW at the position of the level gauge 8. |
