PURPOSE:To record video signals with no omission by changing the record timing of video signals according to whether these video signals are recorded for each field or frame. CONSTITUTION:The tape position signal sent from a tape driving position detector 22 is supplied to an A/D converter 41 together with the voltage corresponding to frequency obtained by supplying the frequency signal given from a frequency generator of a capstan motor 13. These position signal and the coltage are converted by the converter 41 independently of each other. The digital tape position signal and the frequency correspondence digital voltage obtained from the converter 41 and parallel with each other are supplied to a programmable ROM 42 together with the 1-field/1-frame changeover signal given from an input terminal 43 in the form of the address signal. Thus a record timing setting signal is obtained and supplied to a microprocessor 19 for control of a gate signal generating circuit 27. Thus the supply timing of the record signal is controlled between a modulation/record amplifier 25 and a rotary head 7a.
