Hydrocarbon conversions, e.g. hydrocracking, isomerization, aromatization, alkylation and dealkylation are effected in the presence of a catalyst comprising an activated crystalline aluminosilicate and a hydrogenation component selected from the metals of Group VIA or VIII or an oxide or sulphide thereof. In examples: (1) a Pt or zeolite catalyst is used to crack iso-octane and n-octane, (2) and (3) a similar catalyst was used to crack light gas oil and light naphtha respectively. Example (3) also discloses separation of a mixed n- and isoparaffin wax into a product boiling below 550 DEG F. and a residual wax having a higher isoto n-paraffin ratio than that of the charge.ALSO:A hydrocarbon conversion catalyst comprises a mixture of different types of catalytic particles, one type being an activated crystalline aluminosilicate and another a "hydrogenation component", i.e. a metal, oxide or sulphide of Group VIA or VIII, e.g. one of the platinum group metals or oxides or sulphides of Mo, Cr, W, Co, or Ni and mixtures thereof (including CoMoO4). Initially the hydrogenation component may be incorporated in a support before associating it with the aluminosilicate, e.g. Pt is mounted on Al2O3 and subsequently ball milled with hinde 10X aluminosilicate. Numerous examples of naturally occurring and synthetic aluminosilicates are given. |
