PURPOSE:To improve the read resolution of a print dot by setting a light storage time and a Y-direction moving speed in a light storage type picture element string to proper values, reading the signal and processing the signal while com bining plural adjacent picture signals. CONSTITUTION:A Y-direction moving control circuit CMC generates a Y- direction moving speed signal to control a Y-direction moving device CA, that is, a carrier. The light storage time T is set in the read moving speed signal while using a read picture element RA at an optical storage time pulse T. The read range of the Y direction is set. The picture in the set read range is read, read by a picture element aray RA, becomes n-bit picture signal train and fed to a binary-coding circuit. The binary-coded signal is incorporated into a binary-coded signal of adjacent picture element n/kbits, resulting that the data is converted into a print dot signal string of k bits l1, l1 size of l2Xl2'. |
