PURPOSE:Interlaced filament fibers and interlaced short-cut fibers are integrated and the resultant base material is filled with an elastic material in its voids, solidified, then the short-cut fiber layer is coated with an elastomer on its surface and solidified, and the filament layer is removed to give a sheet of high flexibility and high surface smoothness. CONSTITUTION:A sheet of interlaced sort-cut fibers is laminated on another sheet of water-repellent, interlaced filament fibers and the resultant laminate is needle-punched only from the side of the short-cut fibers to give a fiber base material. The base material is filled with polyurethane elastomer in its voids and the elastomer is coagulated in water. Then, the short-cut fiber layer is coated with a polyurethane elastomer on its surface, then, after coagulation, the filament fiber layer is removed, e.g., by means of a belt knife to give the objective leather-like sheet of high flexibility and dimensional stability.
