PURPOSE:To obtain a polyurethane foam with similar specific gravity and resiliency to those of conventional flexible polyurethane foams, by incorporating foaming materials with chopped foam having open-cell structure followed by expansion. CONSTITUTION:All of the raw materials such as polyol, organic isocyanate, foaming agent, amine catalyst, tin catalyst, silicone oil and, if needed, pigment are blended followed by incorporation of (A) chopped foam having open-cell structure made of polyurethane foam or foamed rubber, e.g., rejected product, with a diameter pref. 2-20mm; alternatively, all of the above raw materials except organic isocyanate are blended followed by incorporation, together with the organic isocyanate, of the component (A). Either of the resultant systems is subjected to expansion to obtain the objective polyurethane foam with similar specific gravity and resiliency to those of conventional ones, thus enabling rejected polyurethane foams, etc. to be utilized.
