PURPOSE:To title composition that is composed of individually specific epox resin composition, curing agent and polyvinyl formal, thus giving carbon fiber- reinforced plastics with improved impact strength and improved 90 deg. tensile elongation without any adverse effect on compression strength under moisture conditions at elevated temperature. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is obtained by using (A) an epoxy resin containing (i) N,N,N',N'-tetraglycidyldiaminodiphenylmethane, (ii) a bisphenol-A type epoxy resin and/or a bisphenol-F type epoxy resin, (iii) N,N,O- triglycidylaminophenol, brominated epoxy resin and/or phenol-novolac type epoxy resin, (B) a curing agent of formula I and a polyvinyl formal of formula II (X is more than 78wt%, Y is 4.5-8.5wt% and Z is 9-13wt%). The amount of component B is preferably 0.5-0.65 amine equivalent per equivalent of epoxy groups and component C is 10-40pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of A+B.
