PURPOSE:To maintain specified polishing pressure by the constitution consisting in supporting a rotary polishing plate for electrode polishing to an air cylinder for raising the polishing plate by polishing pressure generating springs. CONSTITUTION:The air cylinder 11 is actuated to raise a movable rod 11a and while the rotary polishing plate 19 is rotated, an upper electrode 22 is lowered. The compressing size of the springs 20, 21 is always constant and therefore the specified polishing pressure is generated if the stroke of the cylin der 11 and the stroke of the electrode 22 are kept constant during this time. The electrode 22 is thus polished by the plate 19 always under the specified pressure. The polishing pressure, if desired to be changed, is easily adjusted by changing the stroke of the cylinder 11 or the electrode 22.
