PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized developing device of simple structure by constituting the 1st and the 2nd developing devices as a single developing device unit, and rotating the unit and moving a developing device which is not driven from an image carrier. CONSTITUTION:When an operator selects, for example, the 1st developing device 6, the developing device unit 31 rotates counterclockwise by being driven by a motor 35 to put the developing roller 41 of the 1st developing device 6 opposite and close to a photosensitive drum 4 while moving the developing roller of the 2nd developing device 7 away from the photosensitive drum 4 greatly, so that development by the 1st developing device 6 is held in readiness. The engaging/disengaging gear 52 of the 1st developing device 52 engages one interlocking gear 51, and consequently a magnet roller 42 and a rotary sleeve 43 are driven by a driving gear 50 to rotate, so that an electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive drum 4 is developed with toner of a magnetic brush on the outer periphery of the sleeve and made visual. |
