PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized developing device of simple structure by constituting the 1st and the 2nd developing devices as a single developing device unit, rotating the unit through an operating mechanism, and putting a developing device which is driven close to an image carrier. CONSTITUTION:The developing device unit 31 is supported rotatably through the support shaft 32 of the center part of a holder 30 and an eccentric cam 36 is rotated eccentrically by being driven by a motor 35 to rock an arm 33 around the support shaft 32, so that the developing device unit 31 rotates together with the support shaft 32. For example, when the 1st developing device 6 is operated by an operator, the developing device unit 31 rotates counterclockwise by being driven by the motor 35 to put the developing roller 41 of the 1st developing device 6 opposite a photosensitive drum 4 closely while moving the developing roller 41 of the 2nd developing device 7 away from the photosensitive drum 4 greatly, so that development by the 1st developing device 6 is held in readiness. |
