PURPOSE:To attain a high picture quality and a high tone quality together by recording a time base compressed sound signal on the extension of one of the first and the second tracks and recording a pilot signal for tracking control having plural frequencies on one of the first and second tracks. CONSTITUTION:At the reproducing time, switches 27-30 are switched to the P side, and reproduced signals from Y heads 32 and 33 are supplied to switches 40 and 41. The PCM signal of the output of the switch 40 has the time base expanded by the first PCM demodulating circuit 42 and is demodulated and is reproduced as the first sound signal from a terminal 43, and the FM luminance signal of the output of the switch 41 is demodulated by an FM demodulator 44 and is outputted as a reproduced luminance signal from a terminal 45. Meanwhile, signals reproduced by C heads 31 and 34 are supplied to switches 46 and 47. The FM color difference signal of the output of the switch 46 is divided by BPFs 48 and 49, and divided signals are demodulated by FM demodulators 50 and 51 and are outputted as U and V signals from terminals 52 and 53. The second PCM sound signal of the output of the switch 47 has the time base expanded by the second PCM demodulator 54 and is demodulated and is outputted from a terminal 55. |
