PURPOSE:To improve the follow-up feature after an abrupt change of the engine rotating speed by calculating the ignition timing and a correction value at the specific first crank angle position and updating the data value of the ignition timing set at the second crank angle position to the said correction value. CONSTITUTION:A T04 sensor 12 generating a T04 signal pulse indicating a reference crank angle position of each cylinder at a predetermined crank angle position and a T24 sensor 13 generating 24 (in case of a four-cylinder engine) pulses in one rotation of a crank shaft are provided. The ignition timing data calculated according to engine parameters at the specific first crank angle position is set to the second crank angle position, and ignition is performed in a range between this angle and the next third crank angle position. In this case, a correction value is calculated concurrently with the calculation of the said ignition timing, and the data value of the ignition timing set at the second crank angle position to the third crank angle position is updated to the said correction value.
