Liquid droplets are extracted from an aerosol by subjecting it to a centrifugal force in passages disposed radially inside an impeller. The latter is formed of discs mounted on a rotatable shaft with axial separation, e.g. 0,005 inch, such that the aerosol enters the space between the discs near the shaft and is caused to flow radially outwards by centrifugal action. The droplets are coalesced between the discs and the liquid leaving the outer perimeter of the discs is collected and removed from the aerosol stream. The latter passes through further impellers to extract the remaining liquid.
