PURPOSE:To enable the continuous processing of workpieces in turn for the mirror surface finish of a magnetic disc and the like by pressing a pair of abrasive strips to both surfaces of workpieces and causing the relative motion of the workpieces and a pressing mechanism therefor. CONSTITUTION:A feed screw 1 makes a slide table 3 movable, and a disc-shaped workpiece 5 is so mounted on the slide table 3 via brackets 6 and 7 as to be rotatable on a motor 4. A pair of long abrasive strips 8 in parallel with the feed screw 1 are so provided as to hold both upper and lower surfaces of each workpiece 5 in parallel. A pressing mechanism 9 pushes a part of both abrasive strips 8 to the upper and lower symmetrical positions of the workpiece 5 respectively with three rolls 13a and 14a. According to the aforesaid constitution, continuous processing in turn can be made through the relative motion of a plurality of workpieces and the pressing mechanism 9, and high productivity is available. |
