When coil-winding it is desirable to subject the wire to a controllable back-tension to ensure that the coil is properly wound. In the present arrangement, where the coil is for a moving coil microphone using fine wire, the wire is fed through a tube (2). A jet of air is applied in the opposite direction to the wire (4) via a second tube (1) branching in to the first tube. Thus the wire receives back tension due to the influence of the air on it, and to its friction in the tube. An extra tube (8) can be provided if needed to get the right back tension.

|
