PURPOSE:To obtain the titled material which reversibly develops and extinguishes a color in a desired temperature region, by mixing an electron- donating, color-forming organic compound with two kinds of specified compounds. CONSTITUTION:An electron-donating, color-forming organic compound (A) (e.g., crystal violet lactone) is mixed with a compound (B), a color developer for component A, selected from among a compound (a metal salt) having phenolic hydroxyl groups, an aromatic carboxylic acid, a C2-5 aliphatic carboxylic acid, an acid phosphate, a 1,2,3-triazole (derivative), etc. (e.g., propyl gallate), and at least one compound (C), a medium which acts to cause a color forming reaction of components A and B to take place reversibly in a desired temperature region, selected from among oxmies (derivatives) of the formula [wherein R1 is a (substituted) aliphatic residue, a (substituted) aromatic residue, an aliphatic amino residue or an aromatic amino residue; R2 is H or R1; R3 is H, an aliphatic carbonyl residue or an aromatic carbonyl residue], in the weight ratio of A:B:C of 1:0.1-10:1-100. This mixture is melted at 80-100 deg.C to give the titled material as a mutual melt or a mixture.
