PURPOSE:To eliminate the possibility for a seat to interfere with a seat, positioned adjacent thereto, and a vehicle interior equipment, by a method wherein, on the condition that a seat is in a safe rotatable seat slide position, the seat is automatically rotated. CONSTITUTION:When a driver opens a vehicle door 14, if the switch condition of a meeting mode is satisfied, the position of a seat 1 is controlled to a safe value. Namely, a seat slide position is detected, and if the detected seat slide position is in a rotation prohibiting range set in front and at the rear of a rotatable range, the seat slide position is so corrected as to form a rotatable range. If the seat slide position is a rotatable range, the seat 1 is rotated for movement.
