PURPOSE:To make it possible to prevent a workpiece from side-slipping due to machining force, by providing a support section for supporting the outer peripheral section of the workpiece and a means for pressing the outer peripheral section of the workpiece in parallel to a surface with which the workpiece is made into close contact. CONSTITUTION:In association with the operation of a vacuum switch, a workpiece 2 is sucked to a chuck body 1 and a pressurizing pump is driven. Then air pressure fed from a pipe line through a three-way solenoid selector valve is blow into the head section space of a piston 11 in a cylinder section 12 through an air pressure supply port 100, to press the piston 11. When the piston 11 is moved, a rod 9 integrally incorporated with the piston 11 is advanced to make into a contact with the outer peripheral surface of the workpiece 2, and therefore, establishes a three-point supporting condition together with two support sections so that the workpiece 2 is surely secured to the chuck body 1. Accordingly, the machining of the workpiece 2 may be made with the high degree of accuracy with no slipping due to the affection of the machining force.
