PURPOSE:To aim at improvement in battery performance as checking a generation rate of hydrogen gas, by using a specific zinc alloy as a negative electrode active material for cell zinc. CONSTITUTION:In this battery, as a negative electrode active material, it uses such a zinc alloy that contains lead of 0.005-0.5wt%, indium of 0.001-0.5wt%, aluminum of 0.005-0.5wt%, and a total amount of 0.01-0.5wt% of more than one kind to be selected from thallium, tin and gallium as well as a total amount of 0.0001-0.5wt% of more than one kind to be selected from magnesium, calcium, strontium, nickel, cobalt, tantalum and tellurium in addition to unavoidable impurities. And, the said unavoidable impurities are of iron of 0-20 weight ppm, chromium of 0-5 weight ppm and each of 0-1 weight ppm of molybdenum, arsenic, antimony, vanadium and germanium. In this connection, the zinc alloy is used as it is or after being gelatinized. |
