PURPOSE:To store and transport a coal-liq. slurry economically and rationally, by transporting a slurry of coal in liq. carbon dioxide under high pressure through a pipeline, converting the slurry to a slurry of coal in a low-freezing point liq. at room temp. under atmospheric pressure, and storing or transporting the converted slurry. CONSTITUTION:A pipeline 1 is employed for transportation of coal from a producing plate A in land to a storing plate B at coast. At the producing plate A, pulverized coal 2 and liq. carbon dioxide 3 are mixed in a mixer 4 to give a coal-liq. carbon dioxide slurry. The slurry is transported by means of a pressure pump 5 at room temp. under a high pressure of 100-200atm through the line 1. The slurry sent to the storing place B is heated at the end of the line by adding a high temp. carbon dioxide gas 6, adding a high-temp. liq. 7 having a low freezing point (e.g., methanol) together with the gas 6, or adding the liq. 7 simultaneously with the addition of the high-temp. liq. 7 combined with the gas 6. the slurry is agitated with an agitator 10 in an agitating vessel 8 for separating gas or mixing liq. while vacuum-expanding through the medium of a pressure-reducing apparatus 9, thereby converting it into a coal-low freezing point liq. slurry. The slurry is sent to a storage tank 12 with a transporting pump 11.
