INHIBITOR OF WATER CONTENT INCREASE OF COAL STORED OUTDOORS

PURPOSE:To provide an inhibitor of the water content increase of coal stored outdoors, which is inexpensive and has good workability, by blending an emulsion of a resin having a glass transition temp. within a specified range and capable of forming a water-insoluble film after drying with a water repellent. CONSTITUTION:An emulsion (A) of a resin having a glass transition temp. of 5.-50 deg.C and capable of forming a water-insoluble film after drying is blended with 3-15pts.wt. (per 100pts.wt. solute in the component A) water repellent (B) to obtain the desired inhibitor of the water content increase of coal stored outdoors. An example of the resin of the component A is an ethyl acrylate/butyl acrylate/acrylonitrile copolymer. The resulting inhibitor is used in such a manner that the solid content is adjusted to 5-10wt% and the inhibitor is uniformly spread all over the surface of a stack of coal or it is spread over coal on a belt conveyor during movement for forming a stack of coal.
