PURPOSE:To eliminate unnecessary data to store data trace results by providing a data trace device with the function which interrupts, restarts, and terminates data trace. CONSTITUTION:A data trace device 7 consists of a central processing unit 1, data busses 3 and 4, control lines 5, and an execution address bus 6. Addresses of a memory 2 where the data trace device 7 should be operated (start, end, interruption, and restart addresses) are stored in a buffer register 8 through the data bus 4. A data trace control part 10 controls the central processing unit 1 and the data trace memory 8 so that data is taken into a data trace memory 9 from the central processing unit 1 through the bus 3 when the address of an execution program in the central processing unit 1 coincides with the start or restart address of the buffer register 8, and data trace is terminated when the inputted address of the execution program coincides with the end or interruption address of the buffer register.
