By reading out image information of these areas from storage information of an input pattern storage device 3, the character, the symbol, etc., in the respective areas are recognized by a character recognizing device 7. By information for showing a segmented area from a character area setting device 6, a write position is controlled and said result is written in an output pattern memory device 9, and together with a graphic part processed by a graphic pattern processor 8, an image pattern to be outputted is formed in the output pattern memory device 6. An image pattern stored in the output pattern storage device 9 is converted to a graphic by a printer 10.
