PURPOSE:To read various magnetic stripes without changing the circuit by using a microprocessor for a magnetic stripe read circuit. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic stripe head 1 reads a magnetic stripe, an output data of the head 1 is converted into a parallel data by a serial/parallel signal conversion circuit 2, a microprocessor 3 reads and edits sequentially the data in the circuit 2 and stores the result in a RAM 4. When all data of the head 1 are finished for read, the microprocessor 3 outputs a read end signal to a host device via an input/output port 5. When the data read command is given to the input/output port 5 from the host device, the microprocessor 3 reads the data sequentially from the RAM 4 and sends the data to the host device via the port 5.
