PURPOSE:To provide a gas tap-controlled water heater in which a heat exchanger is firmly connected to a casing and the precision in dimension upon assembling by fixing a protective plate for a heat exchanger directly to the casing. CONSTITUTION:A protective plate 3a of the gas tap-controlled water has horizontally symmetric semicircular curved portions 12. The protective plate 3a is adapted to prevent exhaust air from flowing outside from both sides thereof. The curved portion 12 is made abutment with a curved portion 15 on the rear end side of the casing 4a and located, and caused to ride on a curved portion 14. Under this condition, a fixing screw 8 is automatically clamped to a screw hole 16. Thus, dimensional precision upon the assembly of the heat exchanger 1a and the casing 4a can be improved and firmly fixed.
