PURPOSE:To improve the drivability by installing a control means for switching an automatic transmission from the gear ratio for high sped to the gear ratio for low speed, interlocked with the operation of a lever for direction instruction operation. CONSTITUTION:A gear shift unit 51 which constitutes a gear ratio switching means operates the selecting fork and shift fork of an automatic transmission 32, receiving a solenoid valve 53 operated by the signals supplied from a control unit 52 which operates as control means and speed change stage determining means. When a lever 6 for direction instruction operation is operated in the right or left direction, a direction instruction sensor 7 performs detection operation, and a direction instruction lamp 8 is flashed, an the direction instruction detection signal is sent into the control unit 52. With such constitution, shift- down can be automatically carried out, interlocked with the direction instruction operation, and the drivability can be improved markedly.
