发明名称 FRICTION COEFFICIENT DETECTOR EMPLOYING IMAGE PROCESSING
摘要 PURPOSE:To stabilize the traveling condition safely by detecting the friction coefficient between a tire and a pavement in the traveling direction accurately, thereby immediately performing the switching between two wheel and four wheel driving or the locking control of a center differential gear in accordance with the pavement condition. CONSTITUTION:A photographing means 1 is arranged in the traveling direction so as to photograph the pavement in the traveling direction, then the signals from said means 1 are separated by an image processing means 2 into three original colors of light and produced as an output signal. Then it is compared in a comparing/deciding means 4 with a pavement condition map corresponding to three original colors of light stored in a pavement condition storing means 3. Thereafter, an output signal from the comparing/dediding means 4 is compared with a content in a friction coeffi cient storing means 6 for storing a friction coefficient between a pavement and a tire, being corresponded to said pavement condition, and a friction coefficient is selected by a friction coefficient selecting means 5. Consequently, the switching between two wheel and four wheel drivings, the locking control of a center differential gear, the speed change control of a transmission, the suspension control of a vehicle, etc. can be performed immediately and property in accordance with the pavement condition.
