PURPOSE:To operate a compressor at a maximum frequency from the starting time and to quickly draw the room temperature near to a set temperature by storing an input current before a certain predetermined time, calculating from the present current value a current value a certain predetermined time ahead and reducing the compressor operating frequency when the calculated current value exceeds the controlled value of the input current. CONSTITUTION:A register 9 detects an input current from a current detector at every predetermined time interval (t). A memory part 10 consists of a plurality (n) of pieces, and stores values read by the register 9, substituting them gradually for new curreent values. At the time t0, current values I-1-I-n are stored in the memory part 10. However, since at a time t1 after a time t2, the register 9 reads in a succeeding new current value, the memory part 10 discards the oldest data I-n, and newly stores I0, and thus current values from I0-I-n+1 are stored. Thus, even when the operational frequency is set at the maximum frequency from the initial time of starting, the operation is carried out at te maximum ability without the operation stop due to interruption.
