PURPOSE:To obtain a copolymer carrying both phosphate group and hydrophobic group, useful for such fields as engineering and medicine, by reaction between glycidyl (meth)acrylate and monoalkali metal salt of monoalkyl phosphoric acid followed by addition of radical polymerization initiator to perform polymerization. CONSTITUTION:A glycidyl (meth)acrylate of formula I (R' is H or SH3) is made to react with a monoalkali metal salt of monoalkyl phosphoric acid of formula II [R<2> is 1-36C (fluorine-contg.) alkyl; M' is alkali metal salt] (e.g. monosodium monododecyl phosphate). The resultant reaction mixture is further incorporated with pref. 0.05-5.0wt% based on the monomer, of a radical polymerization initiator (e.g. diisopropyl peroxydicarbonate) to carry out polymerization, thus obtaining the objective copolymer having structural group of formula IV [M<2> is H, alkali (alkaline earth) metal, alkanolamine, alkylamine or ammonium slat]. |
