PURPOSE:To improve the erosion resistance on the front end face of a blade by machining a material consisting of the matrix of an aluminum base material and fiber reinforced metal to a blade shape. CONSTITUTION:A preform 2 of reinforcing fibers such as ceramic whiskers or short fibers is partially disposed in a casting mold 1. The melt 3 of aluminum or aluminum alloy is poured into the casting mold 1 and an ingot 5 is formed. The aluminum is, therefore, impregnated in the form of the matrix into the preform 2. The ingot 5 is then finished by machining to the shape of the blade 4. Since the fiber reinforced metal is disposed at the front end face 4a, the erosion resistance characteristic is improved and the life is extended.
