PURPOSE:To stabilize an aqueous solution of an acrylamide based polymer and make it suitably usable for secondary recovery of petroleum at high temperatures in high salt concentrations, etc., by blending an organic salt of a dithiocarbamate with the solution. CONSTITUTION:0.001-20wt% organic salt of a dithiocarbamate expressed by formula I (R<1> and R<2> are H or organic group consisting mainly of C and H; n is 1-4; X is organic salt), e.g. piperidine salt of pentamethylenedithiocarbamate expressed by formula II, pipecoline salt of pipecolyldithiocarbamate expressed by formula III, etc., is added to an acrylamide based polymer, e.g. acrylamide hompolymer, etc.
