<p>PURPOSE:To decide the optimum command overrun time point, and to aim at the effective utilization of a magnetic tape, and the appropriateness of a write time, by constituting a device so that the traveling of the magnetic tape is stopped based on a specified condition. CONSTITUTION:When a write timing is not able to follow the traveling speed of a magnetic tape 6 in the device which is driven based on a streaming operation system, the device is constituted so that the traveling of the magnetic tape 6 is stopped based on the read/write gap dH of a magnetic head 5, and the minimum length regulated by the response time of a magnetic tape driving system. Also, the magnetic tape 6 travels in arrow head A direction in figure, and an ordinary inter block gap (IBG) is provided between data blocks DB1 and DB2. The length of the IBG is made shorter than the read/write head gap dH. In this way, when the command overrun is generated, it is no necessary to perform a reposition operation, and also, the IBG of the magnetic tape 6 can be set at the optimum length.</p> |
