PURPOSE:To make narrow track magnetic recording possible by detecting a magnetization pattern of a magnetic medium and constituting a servo system to position a magnetic head for data recording and reproducing. CONSTITUTION:Positioning of a magnetic head 6 that records and reproduces in a magnetic recording medium 4 is made by constituting a servo system by detecting a magnetization pattern 17 for positioning of a magnetic medium 2 provided on a case 3. By providing a magnetic medium 2 having the magnetization pattern 17 that recorded positioning information on the case 3 as magnetization, a servo system that detects the position of inversion of magnetization by a detecting head 1 that slides on the case 3 in a body with the magnetic head 6 and stops sliding. Accordingly, by forming the magnetization pattern 17 corresponding to track position of the magnetic recording medium 4 beforehand, the magnetic head 6 can be positioned to each track. |
