PURPOSE:To maintain the excellent performance intrinsically possessed by a binder resin and to obtain a titled medium having a low coefft. of friction by forming a magnetic layer of a dispersion consisting of magnetic particles, binder resin, modifying agent for the binder resin and medium. CONSTITUTION:This medium consists of a nonmagnetic base and the magnetic layer provided on one face of the base. The magnetic layer is formed of the dispersion consisting of the magnetic particles, binder resin, modifying agent for the binder resin, and the medium. The modifying agent is the resulted product of reaction of a silicone compd. having a reactive org. functional group and org. polyisocyanate and has at least one free isocyanate group. The org. isocyanate refers to a compd. which has at least two isocyanate groups in an aliphat. or arom. compd. The above-mentioned medium is thereby made to have the low coefft. of friction of the extent which is not attainable with the prior art while the various characteristics intrinsically possessed by the binder resin, for example, strength, electrical, chemical and physical characteristics are retained.
